De La Hoya - what's the word on the street?

Believe it or not, over here in Limeyland, where boxing is in its death-throes (only just this week concluding its coverage on terrestial television, meaning only about 2-3 million of a country of 70 million can get access to it) we don't really know Oscar all that well.

The guy's so pretty he could make a straight man (take no notice of the avatar, I lost a bet) turn his head, and he had the balls to step way outside of his weight class.

But he's also just one fight away from an extremely dodgy decision and he does seem to ***** a bit. And is he even that good a fighter? I don't know - as I said, we don't him that well over here - but I was surprised to see him go through Gatti with no problems.

So what's the take on DLH?

that is the worst post you have ever written. De La Hoya has massive crossover appeal. He has a boxing Tv show. He released an album that did pretty good in mexico. He was in the biggest pay per view fight of all time, that wasn't heavyweight. Behind Trinidad he is the most know boxer below heavyweight.

many people don't like him for many reasons, jealousy being one of them because he is a great fighter. Among Mexican fans he isn't as big as he could of been. one reason is because he fought and beat chavez twice in the twilight of his career, the other reason is because he is a good boxer and he doesnt always stand up and fight (see trinidad). He does have alot of crossover appeal though, the album, the show , all that crap. Among boxing fans i think most will acknkowlegde he is really good but still say they dont like him. His album was garbage though, i listen almost exclusively to spanish music and so do most people i know, only 1 person had his album (my aunt who's white husband bought it for her) and it ******.

Sturm wasn't robbed, Oscar bought the title from Sturm....will Felix ever make that much $ again??? NO!!!! Because the WBO belt is a joke, and Oscar knew he could "buy" it from Sturm and his mgt. team
