Canelo, you can agree or disagree, but the numbers and accolades don’t lie. Canelo will go down as the best boxer Mexico has ever produced as far as accolades and accomplishments. You can say Sanchez, Chavez, Marquez, and others are better sure ok… but as far as accomplishments… canelo will be head and shoulders above them all from this great nation of Mexico boxing! Viva Mexico !!! History is in the making…Comment

Sh.iiiiiit as long as plant actually gets in the ring and the undisputed claim is actually on the line is a win in itself.I'm very much looking forward to it, personally don't really see what Plant is guna bring to really trouble Canelo very much but there are a few on here that seem to think Plants definitely got what it takes and some who feel Canelo is a bit of a fraud so we shall see. I hope Plant can give Canelo a hard night's work cuz who doesn't want a good close fight.Comment

Well I did doubt that Plant would go through with this, especially with those 2 previous knock backs and my distrust of the PBC but the vibes I'm getting is there is no funny business in the pipe line now, this is actually happening, fair play to the PBC for proving me wrong and fair play to Caleb Plant for daring to be great.Comment

I mean, plant hit the lotto with this opportunity, he’d be a fool to not go through with it.

I don't think the PBC really had a better option for Caleb Plant at that point. For the 1st time they were also playing "B-Side" to someone outside of their bubble that just so happens to be the Sport's current ATM machine. That being said, they're paying Canelo A LOT of money that at least on PPV (the gate will have solid numbers) I'm not 100% will be a "HUGE" return considering Plant is a virtual unknown. This will very likely be one of Plant's last fights to be honest with how much he'll be paid.

Good post! My assumption is FOX probably is fed up with the whole 'business' of boxing. They are used to dealing with the NFL, MLB, NCAA and other organized sports leagues that have governing bodies with a single commissioner. They're not used to having to Mexican national who wanted to have his British promoter in charge of their business. They probably also realized what I have been saying all along, that boxing will never grow while it's fractured and unorganized. They're used making the best fight the best like Chiefs v Bucs or Yankees v Dodgers. I dont think they can comprehend why Wilder v AJ or Spence v Bud cant be made at the drop of a dime. Or why a fighter is demanding a guaranteed 40 million dollar payday when he hasnt proven it will be a successful PPV without a major dance partner (Floyd, 3G). On the other hand, Showtime is very well versed in the business of boxing. They know how the game is played. Canelo should have never left the PPV structure. He was the next man up to be the P4P PPV KING. He should have taken the baton from Floyd, who took it from Oscar who took it from Tyson. He lost a lot of momentum when he went to that ****** app. Look at the top ten PPV boxing matches of all time. Showtime owns 7 of them. Canelo needs to sit down with Haymon and Steve Espinoza to replicate the "mayweather plan" where he sees a billion dollars by the end of his career and not some fake ass 365 million quid contract that was never going to be honored. What the fuq is a quid anyway? Fox getting out of the business will probably be a blessing in disguise. PBC will be on one network. Mega huge PPV fights on showtime ppv. Very good fights on Showtime and CBS terrestrial TV. The rest of the fights on the Paramount app. Oscar needs to scrap DAZN and get his azz over to Showtime. No more "side of the street" between PBC and GBP. Espinoza will get Al and Oscar in a room and say "look here you two disloyal mothasuckas, you tried to screw me with your FOX and DAZN deals but in the end you came running back to the king, now Im in charge and running the show so you two bozos need to shake hands and place nice because we're making all these fights, first up Tank v Ryan and then Boots v Virgil"..... DAZN will probably start releasing the few American fighters they have left and they will more than likely flock to Showtime. Showtime will run about 95% of American boxing and ESPN controlling the other 5%. Terrance Crawford will probably be making his way over to PBC after the Porter fight. Rumors are Ed Berlanga only has two fights left of his TR deal and it would behoove him to make his way over too because TR doesn't have anything for him at 168. Can you imagine SMW world of Berlanga v David Morrell v Benevidez v Canelo v Plant v Jermall v Andrade. Man I can wait!! WAR SHOWTIME.So why exactly didn't FOX take this fight? I know their contract with the PBC is coming up BUT that's in conjunction with fights that are on the Network itself, not PPV correct? Then again...is Canelo v Caleb Plant a HUGE PPV they want to spend money promoting? My thought process is if you're heading into a 4th year "option" with the PBC you'd think you'd put Boxing's current money guy on your platform to drive in future business, right?
..or maybe FOX doesn't view Boxing in a whole as a priority in relation to their other programming / Sporting Events?

Something isn't right about this fight. I really don't believe for a second there's a 50 mil to waste on this dud. Doesn't even feel like a semi-big fight. Where's the money coming from? This should be a regular Showtime Championship fight. Someone is lying about and covering up what these guys are actually making. There's a huge mismatch between the mentioned purse and the fight caliber. Who is losing all that money? Showtime? PBC? I don't get it.
I can see it flopping big time on PPV.Comment
