Comments Thread For: Larry Hazzard: Luis Lopez-Gabe Flores Fight Was The Gold Standard In Referee Ineptitude

Gabe Flores Sr. took a lot of criticism for allowing his son to absorb more punishment than necessary during the final few rounds of his lopsided loss to Luis Lopez on September 10 in Tucson, Arizona.

Here's my gold standard for refereeing ineptitude...Marlon B. Wright.

Go to the knockout at the end, and see Wright ignore an unconscious Demers while chasing St. Juste back to his corner, only to pick-up the count at 8 over an inert fighter.

BTW, I did the English commentary of this for Super Channel, and was told a couple of weeks later by another Quebec official that Wright's performance in this fight was the most incompetent he's ever seen.

The Bute vs Andrade fight was terrible as well. Wright died of cancer at 51.
