Is Floyd The Best For The Sport?

We all have different opinions about Floyd Mayweather. Some think he's too ****y, cherry picks his opponents while others think he's the greatest, no one can beat him, etc. I, personally, like Mayweather because he's great for the sport of boxing, and brings boxing mainstream. He does have a big mouth or I should say did because seeing 24/7 lately, it seems he has changed a lot and matured. We should all enjoy him as long as we have him.

My question is, if the the best for the sport of boxing? Is he helping boxing get back in the main stream once again? I think he's doing a great job and brining great publicity in the sport of boxing.

    Thoughts?

He does attract casual fans to the sport, so I think he's good for the sport.

          boxing still isn't main stream.

he's doing a great job promoting himself. if he wanted to bring more publicity to boxing, then he wouldn't find excuses not to fight certain fighters.

How could he be bad for the sport?

He can't stop great fights from happening...he had no involvement in Cotto-Pacquiao...

The way he hypes fights is great, it truly is and gets people interested, but like the DLH fight he didn't live up to his talk. He said he was going to "DESTROY" DLH.

I know a lot of non boxing fans tuned in for that fight and it didn't deliver. A lot of people were disappointed that Floyd only did what he had to do to win and I'm talking about casual boxing fans.

I know a lot of people were very disappointed after watching that fight. But if Floyd had of delivered and destroyed DLH, then I'm sure he would have been doing the sport a favor. I remember people were leaving the Baldamir fight early because it was so boring.

I don't get how he's doing anything better for the sport that Pac didn't in his place. Floyd is louder and puts himself out in public more but that's about it.

I agree, PAC's KO of Hatton was good for the sport. People want to see KO action like that.

he's proving that boxing involves talent unlike MMA where the favorite loses every time out. you can master boxing by being completely dedicated and going to the gym every day of your life. it also helps to have amazing reflexes like he does. Mayweather brings credibility to fighting sports whereas I don't think MMA fighters are ever going to get that. They're still mostly seen as just the more macho guy wins your average fight. I see a guy box in MMA and he completely destroys his opponent like Mir did to Noguiera. And Mir can't box his way out of a paper bag.
