Comments Thread For: Junto Nakatani Stops Angel Acosta Due To Badly Bloodied Nose In Fourth Round

Officials felt Angel Acosta simply lost too much blood to continue in his WBO flyweight title fight Friday night. Referee Rocky Burke stopped his championship bout against defending champion Junto Nakatani because he determined that Acosta's badly bloodied nose had become too dangerous early in the fourth round. Japan's Nakatani retained his title, improved to 22-0 and recorded his 17th knockout on the Oscar Valdez-Robson Conceicao undercard at Casino Del Sol's AVA Amphitheater in Tucson, Arizona.

You don’t stop a fight because of a bloody nose. Especially a championship fight. Boxing isn’t tiddlywinks. That doctor and referee have zero business in boxing. The bottom line is the Dr had no idea or business being in boxing. Period. It must be the first time in boxing history that a fight got stopped because of a bloody nose.

Is this the new snowflake boxing championship?

What's next, time in the cry closet between rounds? Mandatory grief counseling for the loser? Yoga instead of heavy bag training?

(No offense to the guy with the broke nose, he was as confused as the rest of us.)

I can’t stand hearing people/commentators say “well they are doctors and commissioners know what they are doing.” Anyone that knows boxing know 1) there are different degrees of doctors and different types of doctors. Some don’t know **** as a dr or boxing. You’d have to bleed for a day for a nose bleed to be an emergency. 2) commissioners are regularly people, some are just there to feel important and get paid. They don’t know crap.

Junto just became, must see tv. I'll concede to my PR bros, Acosta was too small, but he's still quality. I don't know if Junto could really KO Acosta. Weird stop.
