He was murderous puncher at 175. He seemed to have the potential but he also never fought anybody worth mentioning.

Moorer easily could have racked up a historical record at light heavy with his power and southpaw stance. The problem was that there was no way in hell that he was going to be ddisciplined enought to continue making weight.

I used to go down to cobo arena in detroit watching Moorer fight. The guy was a murderous puncher. He was dropping guys left and right. I remember a fight where he busted a guy with such a devastating body shot that he lay in the ring for several minutes after the ko. He would leave the ring by stretcher. Moorer was never much of a busy fighter, meaning that many of his punches were single punches, but then he would open up with combos and the guy would be on the canvas.

I think that he could have been a great lightheavy, ranking in many of our all-time lists. I was never aware that he had any trouble making weight, he always looked fit and ready to fight. The reason that I heard he moved up to heavyweight was because thats were the money was at. Being recognized as a great in any division is what alot of fighters look for, but most of all they are looking to get paid as much as they can before having to retire. I dont blame them one bit, afterall when fighters are done they never know what mental condition they may be, so this is a one time shot for the fortune. Michael Moorer was an awsome light heavy.......Rockin'

Hello there Scap my main man. Moorer would have been excelent as a cruiserweight,a. Not much money at that weight though. I saw Moorer's fight with Alex Stewart-that first round was a devastating and intimidating display of what Moorer could do.He looked like a total distruction machine in that round-made me think of Tyson. Later brother brologs.

Totally agree tonytucker. Instead of heavyweight, Moorer should have stuck at Crusierweight. The division was weak with Holyfield`s departure and he could have reigned there for years untill he grew too big for making the weight. However, as Moorer stated before the first Holyfield fight, it wsn`t just weight issues that made him venture to heavyweight, he knew the money was there too! Even so though, it would have been interesting to see Moorer`s successes at crusierweight!

he made good money and became world champ at heavy , carreer wise that was a smart move.

he didnt look like a big light HW , i think he could have stayed here for his whole career , cruiserweight was a useless division at the time.
