B-C level boxer adding elite/good boxers to their camp

I love how, in boxing, adding a fighter who beat your next opponent is going to help you. Or adding a HOF’er to your team will help you. This is a very silly claim.

Athletes like Jordan, Mayweather, Larry Bird, etc, were big time winners. It does’t mean they could teach. Andre Ward in Plant’s camp will not help Plant. It does nothing.

Another issue is, for example, when Amir Khan hired Virgil Hunter to work on defense. Khan’s defense could not be saved, from anyone. Or like Hatton hired Mayweather Sr for his defense and instead he was ineffective and fighting with his chin out. Or Mayweather training Broner.

One thing is for sure, ATG/HOF athletes usually do NOT make good teachers. At all. It’s some what rare.

Give me a trainer who got beat up as a boxer and knows what being a mediocre to bad coach; is like, Freddie Roach, Robert Garcia, or just anyone else who has coached their entire boxing career.

None of those guys had/have any true passion for educating anyone on their sport. A guy like Lebron who is top 3 all time has always helped the young players improve and just likes the sport period. Same with Kobe. Ward comes across as that kind of person and he communicates ideas very clearly. Talking strategy with a fighter like Ward, especially when Plant can actually do a lot of what Ward might suggest to him is a lot diff than Amir Khan trying to become good defensively.
