Comments Thread For: Kyrone Davis Survives Rough Fight With Martez McGregor In Eight-Round Decision Win

Kyrone Davis secured the win he thought he deserved in his previous outing, though in a fight where an upset was very much on the table. Three points deducted from the scorecard of Martez McGregor proved costly and also spared Davis the humility of suffering a defeat in their high-contact affair Sunday evening at The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Judges Robert Hecko (75-74), Kyle Shiely (75-74) and Josef Mason (77-72) were in agreement, awarding the bout to Davis who would have otherwise landed on the wrong end of a split decision in their PBC on FS1 headliner.

lol yeah. Dirrell is the same guy who fought a 6-4 kind of fight vs Yildirim (who ended up being outboxed fairly easily by a domestic UK fighter)

I liked McGregor in this fight. The ref had it out for him. 2 points for the elbow could have been one and the second point deduction was pure meaness of the ref. I realize it could be considered good calls by some. They said he did more elbows. I didn't see any. Davis was lucky. He ran out of steam in the later rounds and the ref helped him.

I thought Davis' performance against Dirrell told us more about where Dirrell is as a fighter than anything about Davis.

Plant very well may get his ass whooped, but what does Dirrell have to do with him? Plant never fought Dirrell, Benavidez did.

Comment before that i said Dirrell, Uzcategui, Truax. Dirrell KO'D Traux in 1st round , who is Plants 2nd best win . My point is all those guys are barely above Journeyman level just lucky they got PBC behind em . Plant struggled at this level that's my point

I mean Dirrell KOing Traux in one round doesn't mean much to be honest...Heck, Traux ended up beating Degale after that.

Plant's resume is indeed weak....Not unlike the other top SMWs and that has been my biggest beef with the division for the last few years now. If they would have fought each other (Smith vs Plant or Plant vs Benavidez or Smith vs BJS etc), then we would have had a better picture of just good these guys are. Look at the last performance or opponent for the SMW champs right before they fought Canelo...Pretty pathetic and that's because they never fought each other.

100% agree bro it's frustrating their fights against Canelo could've been that much bigger if they would've just fought eachother .
