Don't get me wrong, I feel Canelo would have fought him last anyway if he wanted to be undisputed being that he is, IMO, the biggest threat out of all of them. Benavidez is the most complete fighter out of all those guys. Canelo would not get out of a fight with Benavidez unscathed that's for sure. Just waiting on him to run over Plant already so we can see what he will do after.
Me neither. I think that's because he mentioned after the Chavez Jr fight that he'll try to avoid other Mexican fighters if he could going forward. He doesn't like how the rivalry divides Mexico. I'm assuming that's why, but who knows truly.

The only star that aligned for him was Benavidez taking coke. The wbc did the rest because I’ve never seen an organization just add their vacant title to a fight that was already happening, and do so just one week before the fight. It was strategic on their end because that title had been vacant for 4 months and then they suddenly threw it into the canelo fight 1 week before the fight. It was the wbc catering to their favorite son more so than stars aligning.
WBC did the rest?? So they forces Benavidez to miss weight?

Btw, WBO added their vacant title for the margarito Vs. Pacquiao fight that was already booked. So did the WBA to the Klitchko Vs. Jashua fight. Pretty sure there's more instances when this has happened, just can't recall.

Benavidez has only fought 3rd tier fighters and usually cant even make it into the ring without some BS happening (drugs/weight/covid). The 168 division is garbage and always has been it should be deleted and fighters moved up or down.

I said aside from Benavidez messing up, the wbc did the rest and that’s exactly what happened. Everything else you wrote is false and not the same scenario. The wbo did not add a vacant title to pac vs Margarito. They fought for the wbc title and the only reason that fight was made was because it was agreed that the wbc title would be made available so that pac would have a shot at another title in an 8th division. Their title wasn’t thrown into a fight out of nowhere, although in true wbc fashion, they were chasing the money because I’ve never seen two welterweights fight for a vacant jmw title. However, to your point, Wbo was not involved at all. With klitchko vs Joshua, the wba made the ruling that they’d fight for their title before the fight was officially happening. They made the announcement when Joshua was still scheduled to fight Eric Molina. So neither scenario you mentioned is accurate or even comparable to the wbc adding their title into a fight that was scheduled for just 1 week later.

Will Benavidez be able to survive the Las Vegas buffets?

Remember that the mandatory was Yildrim for the vacant WBC belt originally. Yildrim was legally owed that shot and would likely sit on it. I think the WBC made the better decision to give the bout to the Canelo-Smith winner than have Canelo have to win the belt in a fight against Yildrim. Having Yildrim be an overmatched mandatory sticks out less than if Canelo had won the belt from Yildrim.

You're right, I meant WBC not WBO. Either way, it was a vacant title that put on the line for a big fight. Point is, big time fighters get perks like these all the time. Not fair to single out Canelo

If Benny can stay disapplined & make the weight then this has to be the fight to be made if, Canelo get's Plant as expected!

Been on record saying that to me, benavidez and Bivol can both beat canelo. I would def consider betting against canelo specially if he is favored against those two bulls
