GGG is clearly better fighter.

Both fights were virtually the same - Canelo is a little more relaxed than GGG early, and also uses his speed/quickness advantage to make the early rounds close. GGG is still very active and the punches landed/real scoring punches are pretty even.

Then Canelo slows down a level, and GGG settles in and outworks Canelo over the middle rounds and wins most of those pretty clean.

The end of the fight is pretty competitive as Canelo ups his level for the final stretch and manages his stamina until the final bell, with GGG still throwing a lot as stamina and volume, especially with the jab, are his calling card (especially when he faces a puncher).

The fights were competitive but Canelo just wasn't active enough in either fight to get to 6 rounds. It would be a little bit of a stretch to find him five rounds in either fight tbh. He got outlanded in virtually every round in both fights.

If anyone disagrees, please point out the 2 or more rounds in each fight that Canelo clearly won. That should be easy enough if you think he clearly won the fight...

Here is the first fight and in the best video quality I have seen on YT, and that isn't only because I made it. Oddly, it is one of the few HBO fights I couldn't post as is, which I am pretty sure is due to the quality as other versions are all over youtube but none in 720p 60FPS. Getting around that meant replacing the HBO commentary with something else so I went with what I believe is Spain's Spanish broadcast or maybe a country somewhere in south America, I don't think it is Mexico's even though Erik Morales is on the commentary. Ever find a commentary free version and I will put the two together.
