Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis Vacates WBA Junior Lightweight Title

Gervonta Davis has yet to determine his next fight, though he has eliminated at least one option. The unbeaten knockout artist has vacated his WBA "Super" junior lightweight title, WBA president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza informed BoxingScene.com. The decision was made official Saturday morning, one week after Davis was instructed by the sanctioning body to confirm plans for his next fight.

So Gutierrez/Colbert probably for the full title then? Wonder if LSC considers returning to 130 now

Completely ****** he gets to be a fake champion still, he can't and should not drop back down to 130. Nobody's fault but his own for chasing easy fights. He should be stripped of both of the meaningless belts he has left. Both divisions have real champions if they are gonna strip other boxers then why is he allowed to keep a fake belt of his choosing? Obviously clear favortisim of a Haymon boy that relationship needs to be seriously investigated.

I am hoping that the headline from the other day about WBA asking him for clarification, is a precursor to his “titles” at 135 and 140 being rescinded in the weeks to come.
          Come on WBA! No exceptions!

He better get his personal issues in check and be committed to making 135 because Jr Welter is not his division. Guys like Taylor,Regis,Jose,Mikey and maybe even a Zepeda or Baranchyk are just too big for him. Then again, let them be deluded into thinking because he beat Barrios that he's ready for the elite at 140.

Yeh I agree he gets chewed up all those guys bar maybe baranchyk which could go either way given his defensive holes.
Should fight at 135 against someone who is good, not cherry picking a gamboa or the like

Why doesn't he vacate 2 titles at the one time instead of prolonging the suspense lol. Especially when it's now clear that whatever title is left is one of the Mickey mouse ones lol.

Watch for Davis to vacate the 140 title. Then they'll totally forget about the 135 division until Teo vacates his belt and order Davis vs Romero for the super title.

Junior lightweight is 130 people! it's not 135! he didn't vacate 135, he vacated 130.
                    135 is lightweight.
