There's something not quite fair in a unification bout when one fighter comes in with 3 belts and his opponent 1. For example Lopez v Loma. Loma had to work hard to get three belts under him, while Lopez surely worked hard to gain his title, but one fight and he claims 3 belts?
I'm not advocating against unification fights as they are one of the bright spots in boxing and generate genuine excitement - I guess I'm just saying it seems unfair. If Plant beats Canelo, then of course he will become an overnight giant killer, but is that enough for him to be elevated to undisputed?
Josh Taylor is a guy who appears to have really earned his status, along with Usyk, AJ, and maybe Crawford @140.
Speaking of Lopez, does anyone have any interesting insights into why it is taking an eternity to get him in the ring with Kambosos Jr?
It just can't be that difficult to make this fight. I tend to blame Lopez as I know Kambosos is just cooking with gas and dying to just get the fight going before the sanctioning bodies reduce this from a unification fight to a one belt fight.
I have a sneaking su****ion Lopez doesn't really want to tango with George. I see it as a real live fireworks show. Bring it on and quit the pedantic excuses.
Lastly, and again I'm going to emphasise the inactivity and sloppy opposition going on for the top 175 pounders with the exception of Smith Jr.
Bivol captured the interim WBA LHW title in May 2016, and declared immediately that he wanted to 'unify the division'. sigh. 5 years later and in that time there hasn't even been serious talk of a unification fight.
He has the youth, pedigree, talent, and work ethic to be one of the very few threats to Beterbiev, whose creeping closer to his twilight years.
As I've been wailing about since Adonis Stevenson, Andre Ward, Kovalev etc were the main players is that the deep talent pool was being wasted by ridiculous match-ups, tune-ups, and plain mismatches.
When TF are we going to see a genuine 50/50 match up here? Fighters are aging out which typically is the main reason they take risks in order to secure their financial futures.
How can a division which boasts names such as Smith, Smith Jr, Beterbiev, Bivol, Browne, Buatsi, Yarde, Arthur, Ramirez, Vlasov, Jack, Alvarez, Barrera, Uzcategui, Caparello, Johnson, Richards, Dirrel, and even more.
The division shows depth amongst every category of fighter from journeyman to prospect, and while we have seen some fine clashes, there is a danger that we won't see a defining fight befitting the talent available.
Am I the only one who sees this?Comment

Most of the 175 lb fighters mentioned aren't even with PBC. Why aren't they fighting each other?Comment

At WW PBC has ruined things. At LW PBC ruined things.
PBC is worse than this Covid and the Covid is pretty bad. Think about that for a minuteComment
