You know, for dialing back all the belts.

Seems odd, or maybe even a power play within the ABC. As I understand it the ABC is made up of execs from the bodies, not exclusive to the big four. Could be the WBC bought votes not unlike the *******s in the IBU to try to limit the WBA's influence.

I just think it's odd we get reports from the ABC about the WBA and then a reaction from the WBA at least declaring the intention to consolidate belts while the WBC pushes out more weird franchise nonsense and a whole entire weight class full complete with WBC unterbelts. In fact the only Bridgerweight world champion there is right now is a Silver champion.

So, wtf? Why hasn't the ABC put pressure on the WBC to dial back all their belts?

The WBC doesn't have nearly as many belts.

The WBA was completely out of control with theirs.

      WBC
      Recess
      Franchise
      Interim
      Silver

      Reg
      Super
      Recess
      Interim
      Gold

      nuh-huh?

There are plenty of unterbelts but I've heard nothing about things like Money or Onyx belts from any body because those are trophies. As far as world champions and regional champions those are equal, to my knowledge.

I wouldn't mind the ABC putting an end to the Franchise nonsense.

But in general the WBC doesn't abuse it's recess, interim, and regional belts to the extent that the WBA has.

While they're at it the ABC should take a close look at the cozy relationship the WBO has with Bob Arum and Frank Warren.

It's pretty blatant what's happening there.

Oh I see your meaning, my bad and thanks for clarifying. WBA does have quite a lot more champions than the WBC.

I probably mistook the entire ABC push then. It's not about getting rid of Gold or Reg or whatever, it's about having less champions however the WBA sees fit?

I agree, and can throw ESPN in that mix too. Arum was there for the formation of ESPN and the WBO. He's basically a huge conflict of interests. What's best for the Arum-ESPN connection may not be best for the boxer under Arum. Same can be said for Arum and the WBO. Directing guys to go to your friends for awards and tv time is a bit...King..really.

We all know he bought ranks in the IBF outright. I wouldn't be shocked if that story was still on-going and what we got was only the surface. WBO is just the IBF on repeat really. I don't doubt he buys spots and sometimes it works in his favor and sometimes it works in the WBO's favor. Just like how I don't doubt some of his guys are a great fit for ESPN and others are probably better suited elsewhere.

The politics show PBC selling fights to its contracted partners as “Championship fights.” Haymon got spooked that the trail with the WBA looked really suspect. I mean, technically, “Premier Boxing Champions” wouldn’t include, or rather, sell non title fights while having crappy ratings. That’s an abuse of a brand name and an idiot network falling for the bait. So the WBA helped facilitate “Championship” fights for Haymon to sell, which included whatever the WBA labeled the belt…

That's how I interpreted the ABC push. How can the WBA justify having an interim champion when the super champion and "regular" champion are both healthy and active?

And then doing this across multiple weight classes?

It's just shameless greed for more sanctioning fees.
