  • Comments Thread For: Pacquiao-Ugas: Less an Event, Still a Real Fight

By Cliff Rold - Disappointment was to be expected. It's perfectly reasonable. Despite a year with plenty of thrills in the ring so far, boxing has fallen short when it comes to big events. Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua was dangled cynically over fans in spite of litigation that was always there. Fury in a third fight with Deontay Wilder emerged instead only to be lost to COVID until, at least as currently scheduled, October. Guillermo Rigondeaux was going to challenge John Riel Casimero at bantamweight until instead it was going to be Casimero unifying with Nonito Donaire until it was right back where it started and, in the ring, not for the better.

Has Pacquiao actually had Covid before or was the writer just saying Covid influenced his time off in general?

Want to see this PAC fight, win or lose. It’s going to be a fight. Ugandan not only fighting to his title but also a career that he just built and desperately need to win as this could be his last hurrah at the age of 35. This is his last opportunity to achieve his lifetime goal of being on top.unless he’s taking the money and run. After all, it’s his biggest payday ever. Fight depends on what motivates Ugas & who has the most motivated.

Betting! Play the odds. Anytime you get an older fighter living on reputation against a younger, non-faded and competitve fighter imo its worth a punt on the younger guy - reason being? Father Time.

Most posters on this site are younger than 40 and maybe don't realise that as you get over 35, never mind 40, every year that passes sees, falling reaction times, less athleticism and more muscle loss. In this context, and at elite level, 2 years is a huge deal. Anyone thinking 42 year ol Pac will be the exact replica of 40 year old Pac is just hoping. And guess what, Pac might be one of those 1 in a 100 people who defy age like Hopkins.

But, Pac looks to have lost muscle mass. He'll likely gas a bit harder and a bit earlier.

On the other side - we have Ugas and Vegas corruption to deal with. Any round that is close Pac is getting it in Vegas.

So a small punt on a draw at 21-1 or a Ugas KO 15-1 are looking enticing.

Cliff Rold is a joke and a glorified blogger. He takes subtle "company jabs" all the time to please his supervisors, CBS and Showtime. Check out this line:

Again, it’s okay to be disappointed in getting Pacquiao-Ugas instead of Spence-Pacquiao

Against Ugas Pac is the A side but against Spence Pac is the B side, at least according to Cliff Rold. In reality Pacman is A side versus EVERYONE he fights unless, maybe, Canelo.

But youll see all the PBC shills here try to make Spence an equal to Pac...

Spence is 31 years old and hasnt conquered 1 division. He refused to fight Crawford and Thurman and now ducking 42 year old Pacquiao...Pac won through 8 divisions (not 1). Manny is running TOWARD Spence and Crawford while Spence runs AWAY from Manny and Crawford.

The 2 fighters are not equal - far from it.

No, you dumb shill. Any close round goes to Ugas. Did you not see the Thurman fight ? Manny dominated exchanges 9/12 rounds including a KD and still LOST on 1 scorecard. Boy Al Haymon wants nothing more than defeat Manny and take his belt so he can unify/donate to Spence. Ugas is more beatable for Spence so look for Ugas to get a slimy decision

                    Ya dumb wanker
