Comments Thread For: Pacquiao: Only Danger Is Change In Stance; Both Spence And Ugas Are Aggressive, Which I Like

Manny Pacquiao has never underestimated an opponent over the course of his 26-year pro career. The legendary former eight-division champion and future Hall of Famer is banking on that extensive experience to get him through an otherwise uncomfortable scenario.

It’s gonna be a good fight, Ugas gave Porter all he could handle and many (myself included) saw him edging it out. He doesn’t shy away from a firefight either.

Ugas is an aggressive counter puncher but is not a pressure fighter. This is like the 28th or 29th orthodox opponent in a row that Pac faces.

I understand that Pac has to help sell the fight to the casual fans but that is certainly not the Yordenis Ugas that I know. What Pac is saying is only half true.

While Ugas has a different stance; However he is not an aggressive fighter at all. He is a counter puncher who can't hit and is very hard to hit. He doesn't like to engage or trade any punches.

He fights off the back foot. It could be a very frustrating night for Pacquiao if he has to chase Yordenis around the ring the whole night just to get him to fight. Don't expect him to bring the smoke the way Keith Thurman did.

Actually, as the article states, Ugas got the fight because he was on the card and available. He's even got Pac's old belt, so a no-brainer replacement choice.

I can see this being a nervous UD for Pacquiao. I know it's a letdown from Spence but Ugas isn't some bum. He's got a better chance than Broner and Matthyse, probably closer to Thurman, too.
