Earlier in the yr. Speedy Ellis was brought up as a potential Vergil Ortiz opponent, unfortunately the fight never materialized. Seeing how Bud is set to face Porter next, the obvious choice to fight Vergil in December would be Ellis. Two undefeated welterweight contenders w/t very different styles would make for an interesting match up. Really wanna see how Vergil handles Ellis speed, quick combos and wether or not he’ll be able to cut off the ring w/t such an elusive/fast fighter in front of him. To me, this is the fight Golden Boy should make next as it should draw a decent amount of interest among boxing fans.
Rashidi Ellis next man up for Vergil Ortiz Jr…Ohh Yeah!!!

I've wanted to see that fight too...since before teh shutdowns. Seems like Ortiz has faced better competition by now though. But I would definitely watch, prime v prime.
Ellis was put in another prospect v prospect fight with Rocha and he handled that so I think he'd welcome this kind of opportunity. He's liek 28 now and still pretty unknown, getting long in the tooth to be prospect, want to more of him even if no OrtizLast edited by LA_2_Vegas; 08-16-2021, 04:09 PM. -
Yup…Speedy showed his mettle against Rocha in that fight. However, don’t think an Ortiz fight will have the same result as Vergil is a much more aggressive fighter than Alexis who barely let his hands go against Ellis in their fight. Really, don’t see many other options for Vergil seeing how PBC ain’t looking to send any of their 147 lbs to fight him next. If not Ellis maybe a Ray Robinson would also be a good option for December.I've wanted to see that fight too...since before teh shutdowns. Seems like Ortiz has faced better competition by now though.
