Because they do not understand that they are not in the amateurs anymore. They have a hard time transitioning.

Amateur boxing and pro boxing are the same sport, but with different ways of scoring.

You have 700 amateur fights, it’s likely that you are going to have the tendency to “coast” or avoid and jab, not worry too much about scoring hard blows and consistent, hard combinations that will impress judges, fans and media. You are going to fight like an amateur.

    It’s not a “Cuban” thing. It’s a scoring thing.

De La Hoya was liked a lot in the 90s, was a cash cow, boxing’s darling. But even he could not escape the judges wrath for fighting like an amateur vs Trinidad in the last 4 rounds.

Judges don’t like that no matter who you are. It’s not about color, race, country, money, none of that. It’s that pro boxing judges are trained to score pro fights. They do not want to see pro boxers fighting like amateurs.

There are effective ways on outboxing your opponent, hit without getting hit, etc. like a pro. Some boxers know how to do it. Other boxers just plainly fight like straight up amateurs, with the amateur scoring system in their mind.

If Rigondeaux wants to fight like an amateur and expect to win fights, then he should join the next Olympics and take his talents over there. I am sure he would easily outpoint the other amateurs and win Gold again.

Lara did not get cheated against Canelo. It was a 6-6 fight where most observers had Canelo edging it. More people had Canelo WINNING 7-5 than they did for a draw and even less had Lara winning. Boxingscene own official scorecard had Canelo winning 7-5.

Luis Ortiz getting robbed against Wilder was just PBC/ILBBC promotions.

Lara was robbed plenty of other times, along with Rigo, and that is because their spoiler style does NOT sell tickets. As a result they don't get shown and take on corrupt losses

By the way, I loved watching Pernel Whitaker, Loma & Mayweather.
Pernell(rip), had some really boring fights. Floyd and loma are more offensive oriented. Only in his latest years, Whittaker became less elusive.

Because they fight like it’s amateur boxing where they score by the punch. They don’t pay attention to ring generalship, effective aggression, or any of the other variables that come with winning professional rounds.
