I don’t get this article. Not one of the doctors that diagnosed Spence or a NSAC official making a statement. Just a rando, a doctor from 1982 and a youtube guy to tell us what we already know. That eye injuries are serious business. Boxingscene could maybe try actual journalism. A worthy headline would be a NSAC official to shut the naysayers.

Might aswell add Mares’ eye doctor Michael Davis “with Laser surgery, Spence could be back training as early as a month or so”

The professional Pacquiao **** suckers backed him up with shoulder claims, were nowhere to be found and were completely silent when it came to this fight but all have the balls to come out of hiding when this fight got canceled. They couldn’t wait to breakout the knee pads.

Another DAMAGE CONTROL article. Remember this website is owned by CBS, parent company to Showtime. It’s quite clear by now that they were looking for a way out.

It's obviously a brutal blow for him missing out on a dream match up for a career high pay day...But this could have saved his career and importantly his vision going forward. Like Spence mentioned, he has three young children at home and they are his #1 priority. For their father to be blind in one eye would have been terrible.

Hoping he takes the required time off from the gym and doesn't rush back before he is supposed to. Be extra cautious and let the retina heal properly and then continue on! Hoping for a successful recovery!

Good article. Mares really did himself no favors.

BS is owned by CBS and Showtime so they perpetuate the PBC propaganda. That is why you get so many shill articles

Abner Mares might have done permanent damage to his eye. It will be interesting if he ever comes back like he says he's going to.

I guess we will never know who is the best WW. There goes the Crawford, Pacman fight.

I totally agree with spence, Family first...

                  Early retirement for Spence.

                  Atleast he had 0 loss.
True as it looks like Pacquaio is going to retire after his next fight. Also puts in doubt any fight with Spence and Crawford.

Manny is fighting someone that he should handily beat and at the same time blow off ring rust and show where Manny is at 42.

Lets see how this unfolds, it may be a good thing for both men.
I don't think Pacquaio was looking to fight on after the Spence fight. It was going to be his swan song. Indications from Manny are that he'll retire after the Ugas fight.
