My quick thought on why fantasy fights dont mean anything

Just got to thinking all these fantasy matches have the old school guy winning mostly based on all time resume, but here check this, If Trinidad and De La Hoya were in different eras and both their careers had ended, and people made a fantasy fight over it "Trinidad vs. De La Hoya". There is no doubt in mind most if not all would pick Tito by decapitation or easy ass whooping by the 5th round. But as we all saw De La Hoya was able to outbox the **** outta Tito even though at the end of their careers Tito probably ranks above De La Hoya. Just a quick though, feel free to add anything.

one example (which i agree with btw) doesn't and shouldn't put an end to hypothetical match-ups.

    thank you, come again.

Im not saying they should end, but that the hypothetical predictions in the end doesn't reflect on what would happen in the actual fight.

People from the past are usually remembered more fondly than present day guys.

I don’t know, I still would have picked it as an even steven’s fight for different reasons. Mainly because :

            1) Tito got stronger as the rounds progressed
            2) DLH Possesed better jab/foot work all to his advantage.

As far as fantasy matchups goes to some degree I think this will always transcend to generations after because of the mark they have made on us. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I got into arguments about how I thought a prime Tyson would blast a prime Foreman LOL.

            Peace.
