    Harder punch?

When Lewis caught Rahman with the huge right hand second time around, or when Lewis caught Klitschko with that huge signature uppercut?

    Rahman in their second fight.

Those punches were ridiculous, and sounded like they were effects.

"PFFT, PFFT" then Rahman's head hitting the canvas.

Arguably the hardest punches I have ever seen landed on anyone,

With the exception of Tyson/Savarese. Tyson made Lou rise off the

canvas with those uppercuts. And Lou is a very big man.

actually you will generate more power punching up than punching down.

The weight of your body, your upper body is all that you have behind a blow that you are throwing down on some body, you have no stability behind it. Meaning that your foot will not be planted frimly in the blow therefore losing the leverage needed for optimum power.

Punching up, you will have your foot planted behind you so that pushing off of it you will have your full body behind it, therefore generating more power.

I'm not saying that you cant drop a guy punching down, touch a man the right way and he will fall. And some guys just have the power it seems throwing from anywhere. What i am saying is that you will generate more power and force when your shoulders, hips, legs and feet are are planted and in line with the shot...rockin'

According to Arturo Gatti, he punches harder when punching "down" at an opponent. Makes perfect sense.

you dont have to lift your arms out of their normal rotation.

          I can imagine, someone who is double jointed at the shoulder;

should have no distinction between the two.

i believe that physics would prove gattis theory inaccurate. But hey, if thats what he feels and it works for him, then more power to him..........Rockin'

So, are you saying it takes less energy to lift your arm up from a low point....

              or to bring it down....

because I would have to say the later of the two.

i'll have to consult a physics teacher for the proper termanology. Or better yet I will call Bill Miller and ask him his opinion. Bill is like a boxing wizard to me, if he says its so than 99.9% of the time it will be, if not 100%........Rockin'
