Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez Moves Off September 18 Date, Eyes November Ring Return

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez will remain the sport's most active top fighter, albeit with an adjustment to his otherwise breakneck schedule. The four-division and reigning WBC/WBA/WBO super middleweight champion will no longer fight on September 18, instead eyeing a return for later in the year. Alvarez was originally due to appear on the weekend in celebration of Mexican Independence Day, but has yet to score an opponent in time to properly move forward with the event.

GBP: 2020, Messed up Canelo dates with legal. (DAZN)
PBC: 2021, Wasted Canelo’s Sept date

Matchroom: Provided for Canelo when other promotional powerhouses simply mess things up.

    Winner: Eddie Hearn

This is huge. Why can’t Canelo get an opponent?

Now I know Floyd would control everything but he always got opponents. What is preventing Canelo from getting a Bivol or a Plant in the ring?

With plant posters ( of course) blamed haymon. But what happened with Bivol?

OK now that is more than enough time for Bivol even at a catchweight! Yeah I would prefer Canelo go all the way up like he did for Kovalev so I'm most certainly not defending the catchweight

I didn't understand his bullsh it with the PBC. He would have beaten Plant easily.

He never had any intention of fighting Bivol, I said it weeks ago. He was using Bivol & GGG as bargaining chips so he could get the fight with Plant but when PBC didn't bend over to his outlandish demands he was left with nothing. I find it funny that he wasn't willing to push the fight date to fight Plant but was willing to push the date to "fight Bivol", I thought his dream was to be undisputed? With AlvaRoid everything is smoke & mirrors.

At least Canelo is listening. November is a good date for Bivol, with a lot of time to prepare. Hopefully it happens with no special stipulations about weight or hydration. Fight him straight at 175. Announce the fight soon and start the drug testing early as well.

Because time is so short. The Plant situation, I blame Canelo.
