    When Dancing Becomes Running

    When does dancing become running

There are guys who glide around the ring in circles to box and floss on opponents

    then we have running

where’s the line between dancing and running

When your moving to punching ratio is way down. Example: I know Lara uses his legs mostly for his defense, he doesn't stay in the pocket and avoid shots or try to catch them on his arms or anything. But that Canelo fight I remember watching it and there were several times where 20-30 seconds would go by and all he's doing is moving and hasn't thrown a single freaking punch, not even a range finding jab or a jab just to keep the guy from coming at you. That's running to me.

We've already answered this question. Conor McGregor showcased what "running" really is.

You've never seen Floyd Mayweather OR Lara do anything of this sort. Ever.

It’s about engaging, if you’re boxing on the back foot but still looking to engage that’s fine. If you’re just moving laterally and not looking to engage that’s running.

If you are still looking to walk guys into sneaky punches and let your hands go then its fine.

But if you are just circling around the ring and then jump into clinches as soon as the opponent is close, thats negative boxing and should be penalized after a while.

He was just running from corner to corner to avoid Canelo. Tried even jumping over Canelo as you can see I'm my pic.

When you have a VERY low connect % and your supposed to be the better boxer/technician

Look at the connect % of Canelo when he fought Floyd then Lara.

Floyd doesn't run.. he boxes and uses the ring.
