The only reason the title belts don’t ever make another belt holder a mandatory contender is because of purse splits.
It’s a waste of time to force a mandatory on someone when the mandatory will laugh at the 25-35% cut.
Enter the WBO with this new idea of the champion being mandated to take a lesser cut.
They can mandate their champions to fight the IBF, WBA and WBC champions if that’s the case.
Why don’t they make Crawford fight Spence for 40-percent?
Or make Andrade fight Golovkin for 25-percent?
Or make Joe Smith fight Beterbiev for 35-percent?
The possibilities are endless.
