You can still get covid with a vaccine but it's unlikely if you get TWO shots and the shots are months apart (Israel has proven for the delta you need a bigger gap than initially recommended with Pfizer hence they have double the numbers infected of the UK with two shots Pfizer) and you wait at LEAST two weeks after the second shot.
When people quote figures for people in hospitals who are vaccinated they generally have broken the above rules. You were statistically more likely to get COVID after one shot as people were the next day after one shot throwing away their masks and having a party, the day after one shot you have no extra protection at all you need at least 2 weeks to be better off and then its not much against the delta variant.
One shot was quite effective for the initial variant but is very weak against the new delta variant.

You will of course have older people with underlying health conditions having more of a chance of ending up in hospital but generally vaccinated people will avoid needing to go into hospital.
I'm just glad that the vast majority of us over here in the UK aren't anti-vaxer nutjobs. I really wouldn't like to be living in the States or France right now.Comment
