I've been trying to explain how weight divisions were the original unterbelt scheme to make more money out of lesser fighters for years so i'm glad Rummy covered that though I wish he didn't half ass the belts.
Silver is officially a second place title, it is what it sounds like. Where as interim is meant to be equal to the wbc title, silver is less than both but still a wbc world title. International isn't a world title at all, not every listed title on the WBC ratings is a world title.
I say 8 divisions myself. I don't think CW is a needed division and I don't think it's proven itself as a hot division. Every now and then one talented CW pops up and beats the **** out of everyone then goes to the division they belong in; HW.
Then again, I think everyone who argues any case and doesn't address the fact that the multi-weight/multi-belt system does work. Boxing only grows under a one champion system when that champion is dynamic and charismatic, but, as a staple, having unterbelts and divisions to consolidate weights does bring in more than an undisputed no one cares about.
It's not like they do it for no reason. So, you can't just say these belts are hurting the sport. That's not true. They're frustrating for fans but if they didn't work they bodies wouldn't invest into the practice. To really address the multi-belt and multi-weight system and limit it down to a more palatable system you have to address how boxing makes money when there are no Mayweathers or Furys. Klitschko's biggest draw was his titles. Not his character, not his style, not who he fought, all that **** was boring and almost no one argues about that. Wlad used an amatuer style so even boxing hardcores who like fighters, like May, who are called boring because they're defensive still find Wlad boring because he's not really a boxing wizard he's doing basic **** to fat men less capable than him. To this day Wlad's only claim to fame is him had dem belts a long time doe. The **** works. To replace it you need to think of a system that also stops people in their tracks and gets them to watch what would be considered boring without all the pomp and pageantry over hyping what is actually unterbelts in divisions that don't matter.
Before they made up **** like regular the regional titles NABF won prior in a career used to be included with world titles post fight to make the boxer look more important because that **** works.
