Where do you reckon they’ll end up?

I’d like to see them go back to Showtime. Gives them a platform to put on good cards and also allows them to work with Haymon for PPV fights like Tank vs Garcia. Not sure how realistic GBP returning to Sho is but I remember GBP, Haymon and Sho putting on great cards in 2013-14 so I think it could work.

Don’t wanna see them go to Triller. Anywhere but Triller.

I still think ESPN is where he goes. Espn deportes platform and the fact TR, which has the best fights available for Ryan Garcia, GBP’s top draw, at 135 and 140, already has a partnership.

Someone else suggested pea**** which I thought was interesting.

Going to SHO or TR does not make any sense as I stated yesterday since they will be playing second fiddle there as they have been at DAZN.

Triller bought out Fite TV so that is an option as well as Pea**** as they are looking to bring in more and more subscribers.

They can return on DAZN, but they will likely want double the budget they currently have. I don't know if that is possible, especially with DAZN sort of cooling off on boxing stateside.

They’re a second rate promotion now though. I mean who do they even have left. They only have like 4 or 5 recognisable fighters.

I think they need to work with somebody whether it be PBC, TR or Matchroom.

Give them a bigger budget and will they stay a second rate promotion? If GBP had the same amount of money as Matchroom, would prospects such as Marc Castro not sign with them? Why would Castro ever sign with Matchroom all things being equal?

I think Fite TV or Pea**** are the two networks to watch here.

Matchroom are kind of second rate also IMO, in the US at least. GBP definitely have far more knowledge of the American market, I wish DAZN had gone with GBP as the lead promoter tbh, I think they’d have wasted far less money if they did. They’d have had a far better chance of signing bigger names too.

A bigger budget obviously helps but I’m just not sure how many cards they can put on without the help of somebody with a deeper roster.

Yeah, I mean I'm cool with them going anywhere but I'm just not sure if they want to continue playing second fiddle. If they had a similar budget to Matchroom or PBC or TR? Then by all accounts, go for it! Would be great for boxing fans. I trust Roberto Diaz to deliver as he usually does in making great fights.

But man GBP got screwed big time when they had Canelo. Remember how DAZN was hell bent on wanting "premiere" opponents for Canelo and then went out and listed Masvidal and Conor and Oscar? Remember when GBP tried making fights for Canelo vs BJS and Smith and they pretty much got rejected? Yeah, I don't know if GBP is going to stay there past this year.

Probably 80% of the companies that sold out to a larger competitor would say the same thing. A big enough budget fixes most things. But there are a limited number of media outlets willing to spend that kind of money and its not clear that Golden Boy can build a relationship with any of them. Waiting five months before your current deal expires before seriously negotiating a new one isn't the kind of thing a company ready for large scale investment does.

I think DAZN/Matchroom are setting up Canelo and Eddy Reynoso to be the GBP replacements.
