At first I thought it was a bit premature but after re-watching it I think it was the right call especially after this ref got criticised for ignoring the towel in the Ritson vs Ponce fight.

Let them go out on their shield, don't stop it until it's clear that it's time to do so.

Anything else should be left up to the corner. And the rules should be changed so that a ref has to honor a thrown towel.

Sorry folks but Takam has no one to blame but himself. He is just plain dumb. He sabotaged his chances by not HOLDING but instead choose to be a tough guy by eating blunt shot after blunt shot. Take a knee. Hold your opponent. Do anything so you do not give the ref an excuse to stop the fight especially when fighting in some one else's back yard. Cry me a river.

If this was a ''robbery'' to some people, those people either lost money or only accept 10 counts for proper stoppages

Takam seems to have problems with stamina after four or five rounds. He was gassed at the end of round five and had nothing to give in the sixth. The referee saved his butt from more punishment. Takam claimed he was trying to burn Joyce out but it was Takam who was out of gas. Takam has a sparring partner mentality anyway so he is never going to the next level. I don't really see much from Joyce either. A good matchup though.

I'd have given him a standing count but you can't be good mad, Takam was done and Joyce was mercilessly beating on him.

Takam lived to fight another day and got home safe.
