Ive heard him say this a few times, he said he was training Floyd for a year when he was a kid doing mitts with him and helping him out. Kinda interesting, thought it was Jessie Reid who helped Floyd for a little bit before Roger took over?

Roach and Mayweather Family does go way back! The Late Roger Mayweather use to joke about beating on Freddie Roach everyday and even Freddie Brother Pepper Roach talked them getting their ass kicked in sparring by Roger so yeah I'm sure he met Floyd Mayweather a few times at the gym when he was real young

He has mentioned plenty of times that he is known Floyd since he was basically a baby or just older and knew Roger for many years. He always speaks highly of Floyd as a person too.

As for training him as a kid, Considering he was definitely around the gyms with the Mayweather’s, It’s not that unlikely that he held the pads a few times for a young Floyd who was around too.

Its crazy how long roach and the mayweather knew each other, i wish floyd sr and roach can squash their beef its been 35 years plus let it go and move on. I think maybe this why floyd sr hates freddie because when floyd sr was in prison lil floyd probably said nice things about roach helping him.

yeah, roach probably thinks all black kids look the same and thought that five year old he did mitts with for a year long time ago was floyd mayweather lol
