To be fair Manny kind of did it to himself. Top Rank, Freddy, Ariza, and Manny all pleaded about how "scared" Floyd was but when the fight happened Floyd wasn't getting BULLIED like Manny and company said they'd do. Hell Manny said "THANK YOU" to Floyd at the weigh-in, made a commercial with Reebok celebrating Floyd's willingness to fight him. Manny and Roach built this story so they have to own it. And the reason the Floyd PPV was so successful was precisely BECAUSE of this story...Manny was the unsung hero trying to defeat and dethrone the big, bad villain in Floyd. The actual fight was extremely technical and while I don't mind Floyd getting the nod some people are disillusioned by the fight. They'll say Floyd "schooled" Manny when in reality Floyd won most of his rounds by AVOIDING engagements using ineffective jabs and right hands. To be fair Floyd's defense was sharp and he didn't really take any damage himself aside from Rounds 4 and 6 (and was briefly dazed in round 9). Later in the fight Floyd found lots of success making Manny miss his right hook and Floyd partially landing his left hook/check hook.
The fight could've been a draw if viewed objectively though and I'm not even being a hater to either side. Horrific fight to watch though tbh...Comment

But you certainly don't need a "smoking gun" round to count to seven for Trinidad. ... Oscar landed 263 of 648 punches, while Trinidad went 166-of-462. It was a CompuBox blowout -- though that was based mostly on jabs, as De La Hoya's edge in power punches landed was only 124-120
