Are we expected to go fishing until then?

You want the harsh reality ?

Spence - Pac is a great match up, on paper. We know its a fight we want to see. But look at say the last 3-4 fights of either fighter. Were they exciting? you are talking a combined 6-8 fights of both guys and they have all been underwhelming.

Most likely outcome is a boring UD win for Spence, pac is reluctant to engage. This is the most likely outcome, we waited literally YEARS (since pac-spence was an in demand match up) for this.

If pac gets sparked out at 42 its not even a satisfying outcome, we know he is 42 years old, it doesnt answer the question of who wins in their prime. Only real "exciting" outcome is if Pacquaio stops spence in a massive upset but people are thinking of pacquaio from 12 years ago when he had his KO streak, chances of that are slim. Pac has only stopped a shot Matthysethe last 12 years.

Imagine other famous match ups like Gretzky - Mario Lemieux, larry bird - Magic johnson ect, imagine if it took 4 years before those teams ever played each other. That is boxing.

If the sport annoys you so much then don't follow it.

Um, Spence-Porter and Pacquiao-Thurman fights were anything but boring....Two exciting fights, and the former won FOTY on some sites.

There are some good match ups before the Spence/Pacquiao fight though. OP just likes to complain all the time.

Baseball plays 3-4 months before it starts to matter, similar for hockey and basketball. Football has a minute of downtime for 5-10 seconds of action and commercials between every possession, sometimes between individual plays. Every sport has drawbacks.

Personally, if there were a big fight every weekend it'd frustrate me because I'd be missing them (my life isn't built around boxing). And now that you mention it, yes, I like being able to go fishing on summer weekends and that's tough to do staying up to 12-1am for a fight!

The sports that get undisputed championship matchups every year are allowed to take time off.

Maybe instead of trashing someone who points out reality, we should hold the sport to a higher standard.
