Conor Benn will have to fight David Avanesyan

At the very least if they want to mention him alongside the other welterweights that are coming up. Both Matchroom guys so it needs to happen.

    Good fight,

seems like the next logical step in a fight or two

not sure If Benn can win that but I’d say he’s approaching the level where he has to take that kind of fight.

I think Ava will have to defend his EBU title. After that it's the fight to make.

I still feel like Avanesyan is going to wind up with a bigger fight, maybe an eliminator or luck into a Crawford fight

Absolutely no chance they put him in with Avanesyan.

Matchroom know the Benn name sells well with casuals and that’s why he’s been so carefully matched.

I think they’ll try and steer Benn towards some sort of WBA interim/regular/gold title.

I’d love to see Avanesyan vs Benn though.

He could. Crawford really doesn't have many options. Truthfully, I think Benn has a decent chance at beating Ava if they do decide to throw Conor in the deep end.

I agree. It's unfortunate since I think Benn is a decent fighter. They were talking about him fighting some guy for the vacant EBU if Avanesyan dropped the title but not Avanesyan. I also think Benn-Avanesyan would get good attention where you're from after what Ava did to Kelly.

It would earn Benn respect from the doubters like myself too. Even if he lost to Ava, I’d respect him for taking that fight. I just wanna see him fight a proper champion for a proper title. I’d still be up for Benn vs Jenkins/Essuman for the British title, if they think Ava is too risky at this point.

It seems like they’re trying to sell this narrative that Benn is a world class Welter though. The end game is likely Benn vs Khan or Brook IMO.

Even the other British Matchroom welter signed to matchroom would be a good opponent. We had this conversation but I forget his name. I do think Benn is world level but not good enough for the current champions and not as good as Ortiz and Boots is light years beyond him so it will be tough for him eventually. I like Benn but after Granados I wanna see him walk the walk.

McKinson? Yeah that would be a good fight. He’s a spoiler though so even if Benn won he likely wouldn’t look good doing so, so I’d be surprised if they made that fight.

As you know I’ve never been a fan of Benn, just comes across so entitled but even I’ll admit he’s definitely improved as a fighter, especially considering how raw he looked in the early stages.
