Comments Thread For: Jermell Charlo: Castano Fight Could Be The One That Put Me In The Hall Of Fame

Jermell Charlo believes beating Brian Castano on Saturday night could strengthen his legacy enough that it would warrant consideration for the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Houston's Charlo can become boxing's first fully unified 154-pound champion in the four-belt era by conquering Castano. The IBF/WBA/WBC champion also can secure his place as the sport's sixth fully unified, four-title champion in any division if he wins against Argentina's Castano in their Showtime Championship Boxing main event at AT&T Center in San Antonio (9 p.m. ET; 6 p.m. PT).

Sounds ridiculous but hey, he’d have a better resume than Gatti so who knows.

To clarify, he means the Lafayette, Louisiana Boxing Hall of Fame.

These comments are uncalled for. Why do people hate on him and his bro so much? There's ex fighters currently in the HOF with suspect resume. Why can't charlo make it if he wins Saturday, moves up to 160 and gets multiple belts there?

I disagree about Gatti. Charlo has fought nobody. His best wins were against average guys. Gatti's best win was against Ruelas and Charlo has yet to beat anybody better than Ruelas. Gatti lost to some of the best, but Charlo has yet to fight the best. Plus, Gatti is in the HOF because he was a warrior. There are more ways to get in than just resume. I agree that Charlo thinking he is HOF material because of beating Castaņo is ridiculous.

Undisputed is a good start. It would be sad if he moves up and fights GGG and Andrade before Jarmall though.

If this is a fight that put him in the Hall of Fame than they should call it the Hall of Shame, because it’s week as hell!
