"Could a good MMA striker in their prime beat him?" In my opinion, no. Just to be clear, if Jake stood statue still with his chin jutting out, then he could be knocked out by an MMA striker; otherwise, he'll beat them for if they were good enough to beat him when Jake's trying to win, then most likely they'd have been a boxer.Comment

Yeah before people start giving Jake too much credit it has to be remembered who he has actually fought, Woodley is the first person who has had any ability with their hands at all, in mma or otherwise. Askren was literally the poster boy for terrible striking.
You could very well be right but honestly even Woodleys limited boxing training is about five times as much as the rest of Jakes opponents combined. Woodley has yielded some good results with his hands in MMA. You cannot say that about Askren (at all lol) or a basketball player. Jake has FAR exceeded expectations and that has people gaining confidence in him. It's perspective though. Mention a guy like Edgar Berlanga and people say "he has a padded record! he'll be exposed soon!" Then mention Jake Paul and it's "you know he can actually box and he has a real future in the sport"
Nothing would surprise me I guess you could say.
Jake Paul's fights have so far been the equivalent as looking good on pads, way way too early to know if there is anything there, there may be, but so far I haven't seen any reason to think there is, and talking about a guy who has never faced a boxer or someone his own size why would you jump to that conclusion without any evidence.Comment

Don't know about that rationale, did you see Anderson Silva against Chavez jr? Sure Chavez jr is an embarrassment to boxing but he has 1000 times better hands than Askren which is Jake Paul's "best" win.

I'd favour Silva over Paul all day.Comment

Anderson has trained/sparred with Pro Boxers for years (Brazilian national team ammys also). Woodley was never a "striker" he was a MMA wrestler. Paul takes him out in 6.Comment

I'd like to see Silva vs Paul in a ten rounder, and I hope that it will be Paul's next fight after Woodley. I'd still favor Paul against Silva as I believe that he would K.O. Silva, and I don't believe that Silva could K.O. Paul. Silva is a good example of what I was talking about. If he had real K.O. power (ability to knock out somebody who knows how to box), he likely would have become a boxer. Unfortunately, it probably will not happen, so it is all speculation.Comment

You seem to be ignoring the post that comment was responding to, i.e. if an mma guy was good enough to beat Jake Paul then they would have become a boxer, well an mma guy beat Charez jr, the fact an mma guy who started in jiu-jitsu, then muay thai ended up training with pro boxers for years just further proves my point.
Also to say Woodley was never a striker is a bit of a stretch, guy has more KOs then submissions, his background was wrestling but he certainly became known for explosive striking, not that I necessarily think he will beat Jake Paul, definitely has a better chance than Askren though who was never a striker in the slightest.Comment

Another overconfident mma guy whose probably had no proper boxing training. It’s a different sport, and the boxing training most of these guys get is either adapted to fit that sport, or from guys that dksab. I trained in mma gyms with fairly high level guys, before I took an interest in boxing from a training perspective. I always watched boxing, and throwing hands was my favourite aspect of mma, and what was being taught looked pretty legit to the naked eye. It was only when I really dug into the fundamentals, I saw what was lacking.Comment
