Comments Thread For: Virgil Hunter: No Fighter at 168 or 175 Has a Sure Shot of Beating Canelo

Veteran trainer Virgil Hunter, who guided Andre Ward to unified title runs at super middleweight and light heavyweight, does not see a single fighter in either division that has a concrete shot of beating Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

he's not lying.. There are no Tarvers, or Roy JOnes in the division today. He beats them all. Including Beterbiev.. And after he beats Beterbiev, everyone will make excuses that "he's old", but the same people were saying that Canelo was ducking him.

Agreed. You need to beat the cash cows clearly to get the W.

Beterbiev has the best bet of beating him. But with him being 36 Canelo will probably wait until he's 40 or lost to challenge him. The last time Canelo fought someone who was 36 years old he got his ass kicked and 99% of the boxing community said he lost.

Beterbiev is a fresh 36 and would grind Canelo down, stop him late. Canelo likes to fight at his pace and land 2 or 3 "wow" punches to steal rounds late with the cuck judges. He won't be able to do that with the much stronger Beterbiev. Bivol would simply box Canelo's head off at distance. The one flaw of Bivol is he seems to fight at one pace.

Looks like Joe Smith Jr might be going the Salamov and Danny Jacobs route. Guess after his last performance he figured he'd try to have some semblance of a reign before fighting Beterbiev or someone else.
