if you gain weight after you weigh in

Doesnt that not mean you had to lose weight to make the weight?

Yes and that goes for every fighter in existence ever...including Floyd n Pac. They're probably the 2 of the most disciplined fighters in the last 2 decades but even they had to cut weight. Floyd was probably the best at masquerading as a fighter who didn't have to cut weight but that was clearly a lie, that's why he never gave divulged his fight night weight later in in his career....smoke n mirrors as they say.

Fighters cut weight because coming in a division or so higher gives you an advantage over someone who does not.

even the ones you think are small are still gaining weight after the weigh in..so they are still cutting weight

Yes because coming in smaller than your opponent means putting yourself at a disadvantage.

It has become the norm, and almost everyone does it. And it comes with its own risks.

If you can weigh in at 147 lbs and blow up to 160 lbs at fight night, then you are putting yourself into a better position to win unless you drain yourself.
