Boxing is in a weird situation again, and Pacquiao vs Spence which is to boxing fans the biggest fight of the year, got little to no coverage on FOX or ESPN when it was announced, FOX who is broadcasting the PPV didn't even have any of their talk shows talking about it when it was announced.

Only hardcore boxing fans are amped, Some fool told me man Pac vs Spence will do 1.5 million buys, I had to shake my head, Pacquiao hasn't broken 450,000 ppv buys since losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr when they did 4.6 million buys.

Pacquiao's last two fights did 330,000 ppv buys for Adrien Broner and 460,000 for Thurman.

This fight will likely do 650,000 PPV bys tops. Its only a big fight for hardcores, boxing ppv model is dead.

if i go by hearing people bring up fights at work who otherwise never talk about fights that is how i know if they got casuals or not.

connor is still huge. last time he fought and got knocked out, i heard shouting from a fight party a house half way down the block.

People at work have talked about floyd-paul and floyd-connor before/after they were happening.

i never heard anyone talking about spence or a random pacquaio fight. or even canelo for that matter

connor-jake paul would have people going ***ing nuts. chit they are both normally heels, everyone watching probably hates atleast one of them and wants to see one knocked out. connor would probably play the good guy and jake the heel.

it sounds really ****** but if you wanted a pure boxing fight to really get attention, the one that would get most from casuals is canelo-pacquaio. boxing purist know its a ****** fight based on the age and size differences. thats the thing, casuals dont care about that. that is why they watch chit like floyd-paul. and connor-paul. its that primal instinct for violence and to want to know who would win in a fight and they only care about the fights if it is someone they heard of. you tell them about spence and how hes the best welterweight they dont give a **** they never heard of the guy.

I think FOX is waiting for the WBA to vote if Manny is reinstated. That way, they could have a proper pre fight face off with Spence carrying his two belts and Manny carrying his with the Ring belt on the line for the winner. FOX will be doing an announcement tour in 3 locations just like Thurman vs Pac (LA, New York, etc.)

boxing channels like motivedia are waiting for those prefight face off clips for their videos.

Even then, Spence vs Pac videos are still doing 6 to 7 times more views and likes than when Thurman vs Pac was announced.

When the face offs happen, the news and videos will spread like wildfire. Especially the idea of this fight ending in a KO and passing of the torch.
