If he loses again - good comparison for Wilder situation is Rid**** Bowe after Holyfield 2. Herbie Hide level off brand belts. They are out there. The joke belts Whyte and now Dubois hold. Alphabets would probably accommodate him & PBC. He can make money but it will be far less than he’s been used to and it won’t be a big event anymore unless he goes on a KO tear. But he may just fade away.Last edited by VislorTurlough; 07-06-2021, 10:38 AM.Comment

Hopefully his marketability ends on 7/24 or the morning of the 25th....he did himself a HUGE disservice last year after his loss. It's bad enough people will write you off after a loss, but to add horse**** excuses on top of it and feel you don't owe fans (read: consumers) a viable explanation of some sort is beyond me.
He was a one-belt champion with limited skills....he's been on borrowed time for a while now. Even if he upsets Fury on the 24th...does he have the discipline to keep winning future fights?Comment

I've been saying for a while that spinning the line of 'Wilder has nothing to lose in this fight' is a false narrative and he has plenty to lose. His career may not be over (though I imagine he would seriously consider retirement if he loses badly again), but his time near the elite end of the division would be.

Wilder's career wont be over, his marketability would be. The only way back from another loss to Fury would be to start from square one. Get 5-6 wins under his belt vs top 10 opponents and then maybe by then he'll get another shot. He would have to stay active and fighting at least 3-4 times a year. He can't fight just once a year and expect to get back to the top.Comment

Lol his career is definitely NOT on the line. If he lost the fight, he would only have two losses to one fighter. Plenty of fighters have been in that situation before and continued fighting. Will he get the same type of paydays? Probably not. But he'll definitely be relevant enough in the division to where he can still get big fights for good money. He still has the KO power to cause upsets.Comment
