This fight is up in the air. Like natas said, he'd have to avoid the jab. But can Roy use his physicality and size advantage in the ring? He didn't use it against Calzaghe. But I think the bigger issue is Roy needs to quit, he's done!!!!

Tito has more power than Pavlick bro, Tito knocked out better people faster at 160 than Pavlick has. Joppy went the distance with Taylor and Hopkins after Tito knocked him out in 5 rounds. Trinidad would KO Pavlick if they ever fought.

Exactly what I am saying. If this was the RJJ that fought Johnson I would pick Jones hands down since he still had some legs then, but no Roy provides no lateral movements or angles whatsoever. He is a statioary target with fast hands now.

But Ffs fast hands alone do not beat Pavlik. Taylor when he fought Pavlik was more of a threat than Jones is now, he was also way fast and got wrecked because he was backed up. Pavlik backs Roy up and knocks him out. Also how the hell would Jones win a UD? Pavlik tries to throw 100 punches a round, all of them with mustard.

I'd pick pavlik to win by TKO.

Roy at this stage is too happy to just lay on the ropes and cover up which is bad news when your against Pavlik who is very effective when his opponents are on the ropes.

Pavlik wouldn't try to swarm Roy like Lacy did either, he would use jab to find the range and would let his combos off.

Roy would have his moments but overall would get beat up, outworked and eventually stopped.

Pavlik is also 3 and a half inches taller and has the reach advantage. The way Hopkis won was by using consitant movement. He wasn't in the same spot for more than 5 seconds. He also took away Pavliks reach advantage by staying way out of range, and coming way in range to land short 6 inch combos, and then spin him or tie him up. Roy doesn't trun or spin his opponents. he doesn't tie them up either. he would try trading with him, and it would get him knocked out.

I think people are giving this to Pavlik too easily. Might it not be a bit tricky to say what he still has, after that beating he took in October? The fight 7 months ago with Rubio told us absolutely nothing, other than that he looked like **** against a guy who was running scared for nearly all of 9 rounds. By rights Pavlik should've stopped him Lockett-style early, judging by the standards with which people in here are setting him up to beat Jones.

We only have to look back at the last 2 outings from both men - Pavlik has looked bad in the 2 fights he has had within the past year (the first against a wiley old cat who has a reputation for raping careers, and the second against a journeyman), whilst Jones has looked great in 2 out of 3 fights within the same amount of time (bad against a notoriously awkward Calzaghe, and great against the latter's leftovers). So what does that say? Anything you want it to. We just don't know.

In any case, I think it'd be a tough fight for both men. In their current state, based on their last 2 fights, I pick Jones to edge out a UD at 170 where he'd still be somewhat comfortable (Pavlik not having looked so good in both of his outings above 160). But if the Pavlik who showed up against Taylor on both occasions were to somehow show up at 170, then Jones would be in for a long night - and possibly a loss via decision or even stoppage.

Tito def. don't hae more power than Pavlik at 160. Joppy isn't the measuring stick of power man. Miranda and Taylor were never knocked out, nor were most of Pavlik's opponents, before Kelly put them out. I guarantee 100% Pavlik has way more KO's that were first time victims then Tito at 160. I don't think Tito even beats Miranda and Taylor at 160 when he was there, to be honest. Thats beside the point though. If you asked most people theyd agree with me that Kelly definitely packs more punch at 160 and above.

Yep. Pavlik is a horrible style matchup for Roy at this stage. Just horrible.

                      Agreed.

Tito was a beast with great power, particulalry at 147 and 154, but at 160 I'd go with Pavlik being the harder puncher of the two.
