Comments Thread For: Castano: Jermell Charlo Was The Only Fight I Wanted Once I Won WBO Title

For as long as he waited to return to the title stage, there was never going to be any looking back for Brian Castano. Things are finally falling in place for the unbeaten Argentine, who had only fought seven times in five years prior to 2021. The pandemic played a part in his inactivity, including a year-long delay to his WBO junior middleweight title fight versus Patrick Teixeira. The fight finally came about February 13, with Castano claiming a one-sided unanimous decision to win the belt and immediately proceeding with talks for an undisputed championship showdown with lineal/WBC/WBA/IBF champ Jermell Charlo (34-1, 18KOs).

I never doubted one bit that castano wanted to unify with Charlo which is why I respect him so much.. even though I think Jermell is going to beat him brutally, I appreciate how he went about going for undisputed

I also have a lot of respect for Jermell cause he has been unifying and now taking on a very tough opponent in Castrano. Respect to both guys for taking a risk.

Jermell compared to his twin is doing it right. I also applaud Castano for taking this fight and not just holding his belt ransom.

It's a shame that Jermell Charlo is not currently on anyone's best fighters pound 4 pound list.

Thank you, that is awfully noble and thoughtful of you but I was referring to the major publications and boxing writers. They have conveniently omitted him and I just wonder why? .

He isn't undisputed yet. If he beats Castano then he certainly enters the convo. Remember he is only a one division champion. For me he is right outside my personal top 10. That's just my opinion.
