Dont make me laugh, we got 9 centrobasket gold medals, and 5 of those where won in Mexico. Also we got 3 Fiba Americas golds where Mexico has none. We are the most dominant basketball country of Central America and the Caribbean. Not to mention our sub 21 teams who roll through everybody in the continent without even breaking a sweat.

Also dont forget our volleyball teams. Way better than Mexico.

Let's be real here for a second on both sides.

PR is part of the U.S and if it wasn't for the U.S it would be like Cuba, D.R, Mexico, Central and South America. Does the U.S take advantage of PR? Sure it does but at the same time, PR's are lucky to at least have the strength of the American economy behind them and the fact they are born citizens.

PR also has a huge drug and violence problem. This is a fact because I have lived in PR and I read the papers over there. There is and has been corruption at the local govt level there as well.

        Now on to Mexico...

Mexico is a 3rd world country, extreme poverty and corruption at the federal level. There's no denying that and that's something that we could go into in another argument all together.

Mexico is also a country and civilization that is much, much older than any place in the Caribbean. The history of Mexico is drenched in blood and war...it's not pretty.

As far as PR fighting in every war for the U.S, this is true but believe it or not so has Mexico. Mexico fought in WWII for the U.S and even had a squadron of fighter pilots that fought on the side of the U.S. Mexico declared war on Germany, Japan and Italy in 1942.

        Here's the link:http://www.avalanchepress.com/MexicanAirForce.php

So while it's easy to disrespect PR for not being a sovereign nation or disrespect Mexico for it's poverty and immigration into the U.S, let's not forget the struggles BOTH people have made.

Without Mexican immigrants, there would be no U.S. And the U.S has not given a free ride to PR's because they have taken from them plenty, built bases, bombed Vieques and established a strategic point in the Caribbean.

We both get riled up because we are hot tempered people, you can see that when we lace up the gloves and get into the ring with each other. The important thing is to respect each other and understand WHY things are the way they are.

I'm proud of being of Mexican decent, to me there are very few people on the planet that have struggled and persevered like Mexicans. From the time of the Aztecs, Toltecs and Mayas to Benito Juarez, Emiliano Zapata, Pancho Villa to the present day.

I'm sure PR's feel as proud as we do and that's the important thing.....
Post of the year.. i hate when this gets political bc there's alot of ignorance.. it should have been about boxing and it always gets outta hand... this is a classy post... there's too much bicker between PR and Mexico.. as long as we can talk about sports its fine.. politics are politics..nobody's ever right.. this fighting is not only caused by our love to compete but also bc we like to differentiate from eachother.. PR and Mexico are two very diff cultures and it's something most ppl who are not latino are ignorant of

You think PR is better at basketball than Argentina or Brazil? I don't think so.....just saying. PR is better than Mexico in Basketball though, if you read my original post I said that I was just surprised that PR doesn't have more pro players in the NBA.
