The WBA elevated Sturm to super champion in 2010 despite not meeting their original criteria for Super Champ (being unified). His mandatory at the time was Golovkin who was elevated to fill the world title vacated by Sturm's promotion.. The rumour persists that he was only elevated because he didn't want to fight GGG... In any event, Sturm didn't defend his title and was instead promoted rather than being stripped as you'd usually expect in such a case.

Bribery has been alledged lthough TBF Ahmet Oner is a flat out crook himself so his words may perhaps be treated with a certain degree of caution, specially since it seems he's bearing grudge. Still, it's hard to find any other legitmate explanation of why the WBA might have suddenly changed their rules to make Sturm eligible for elevation.

It is worth noting that the WBA have seemed to have something of a love affair with Sturm throughout his career though including a similar - maybe worse - debacle with Fedor Chudinov at Super Middle some years later.

I'd say it only counts for GGG after the 'Super' was dropped by Geale in late 2012 (15 defenses). If Taylor vacates or moves up or some **** whilst still incumbent then Tank will become 'the' WBA titlist at 140. Similarly if Teo moves up without losing his WBA title Tank will become the WBAs guy at 135. It's imperfect but it's the closest I can come to a general rule that squares the mess the WBA have made with their bull****.

If you disregard the 'World' title altogether then it ****s with the lineages and some universally recognised WBA Champions going all the way back to 2001

Taylor is the champ and that is the man to beat.

I say it should count as long as there ain't an incumbent Super (or 'unified' as they've sometimes called it over the years) Champion. Basically the highest ranked of the multiple WBA champs (Super > Unified > World) is the one that should be considered 'the' WBA Champ at any given time.

Ain't really figured out how to deal with the WBCs franchise bull**** yet though, cos that's another type of ****** again.
The "regular" belt shouldn't count for anyone if there was also a WBA "super" champion in the same weight class at the same time.

Prior to that. when there was only one WBA belt, I see no issues with it.

That's precisely the way I see it... only one champ per org at any given time. WBA created this bullchit near 20 years ago now so it's probably about time we came up with a consistent approach on how to deal with it, instead of folk picking and choosing when it suits and when it doesn't. That's all I'm attempting to do. One standard approach for all fighters that can also be applied retrospectively from when they split the titles back in 2001 or whatever.

Only real question to me is how you treat elevations - like do you automatically treat the secondary champion as the new primary champion when the primary becomes vacant or do you wait for the WBA to wave their magic 'Super' wand or whatever. Similar question to how they should treat interims for the other orgs I guess.

You know Larry when it comes to social, equality, and political issues in this country of ours. You and I are on the same page with it.

But Larry you constantly say people are race baiting and treating certain unfairly compared to others in boxing which is true. I agree with you on that. Fact is you can’t complain about Fighter A when not complaining about Fighting B who is the same.

Fact is you shht’d on GGG for years, but now you are mad because people are shht’ing Tank. Thing is Tanks accomplishment are arguably shhtier than GGG’s, and has way less longevity so far.

You cant complain about certain fans not being a certain way when you are not that way either.

The sanctioning bodies are only looking at the money. They don't give a crap about the sport. There are too many titles and too many sanctioning bodies.. Whether they are legitimate titles depends who your favorite fighter at the time is I guess. If you enjoy watching a fighter be it Tank or Golovkin just enjoy the fight.

Maybe he came to terms with his limitations? I'm surprised he hasn't been cashed out yet.
