Can we talk about how pathetic the sport is?

Yes boxing is the sport where people take living vicariously theough the participants to the absolute nth degree. a great many people use boxing as an emotional crutch, a tribal pride game. PatheticI mean come on. Have you ever seen a sport in your life where fans care more about what happens outside the ring rather than inside the ring?
Have you ever seen a sport with "so many fans" but nearly all of those fans have never once took the time to understand what they're watching?
Or that they've never thrown a punch neitherless put on a pair of gloves?
Have you ever seen a sport where everyone can talk a big game but is never forced to back up their words?
Have you ever seen a sport where there are fans openly objecting to seeing the best available going head to head and are proud to do so?
Have you ever seen a sport that empowered the racists and nationalist as much as boxing?
Just wondering because all these things should never be celebrated in any sport. Just my opinion.Comment

You know it's bad when DAZN's (I think) YT channel has a video titled something like "The Best Ringwalks of 2020". That's gay stuff, man. I don't tune in to watch some dude strut. Who cares about ring walks, and shorts that look like skirts or some Shredded Elmo doll?
I know some fighters have liked the flashy stuff, historically, (Prince Naseem, Macho Camacho, etc.), but leave that to the few who can pull it off. The rest need to stop profiling constantly (but that's what happens in a Facebook era). Just get down here, square up, listen for the bell, and start punching.
And somebody tell that ridiculous announcer to cut his Rapunzel hairdo!Comment

If the TS feels that way he should stop watching. You don't always get what you want but there are some gems that come from no where and boxing is the theater of the unknown.Comment

People don't know **** about boxing and based it on emotions. They don't even know how the fights are scored and the rules either. When fighters don't score KOs, automatically the fighter is deemed as "boring" and "has no power". As for knowing what is happening outside of boxing, as in behind the scenes...yeah...it's actually interesting and we can see who is ducking who. If the internet is available in the 80s, a lot of these legends might be exposed and not be respected as much.Comment

Not sure if its the sport or just this place TBH, but yeah I understand your frustrations, it is pretty depressing.
The amount of ignorant, low information, bordering on straight up ******ed, hot takes that flow like a tsunami through this place is frightening.
The polarisation and water carrying for promoters of all things is comical.
The race stuff is probably the most pathetic. I can't speak for anyone else but the gyms I go to have people of various ethnic backgrounds, it is mystifying that anyone could train in that environment and not see that race has absolutely nothing to do with a person's character, I assume its only ignorant people who aren't exposed to the "other" that can hold on to the myth that race is important, that where you or your parents were born and not your individual character somehow matters.
If I were running the show any race related stuff would get the banhammer, its absolute cancer.
Its unfortunate as this place does have insightful and informative post etc, not sure the toxic **** you have to wade through to find it is worth the effort, if there was somewhere else where people just intelligently discussed the sport I'd go there, just not sure it exists.
The other actual issues with the sport, like promoters/networks, sanctioning bodies etc, thats just a whole other depressing topic.Comment
