Heres a question, Did Hatton take on Pac too early in his "rebuilding"

You know after PBF wasted Hatton, he looked like Trash against Lazscano, got in Mayweather SR and set about rebuilding himself. This came in two stages.

    1. Fight Paulie M and try out a few new things.

    2. Fight Pacquiao.

Would Hatton have been wiser to fight a few of the Campbells and even Kotelniks of the division and have say 4-5 fights over 2 years with SR THEN challenge the top guys?

    just a thought.

      ^^^^^^^^^

      I think Floyd was though.

Hatton boxed very smartly against Paulie instead of mauling him like normal.

I just think he moved too fast, and ended up more confused than anything.

Im not saying i think he could ever beat pac but at least give him a fight for a few rounds?

No. Hatton had his confidence back after the Malignaggi fight. Once a fighter is confident, he wants to fight the best.

The fans wanted Hatton/Pacquiao, GBP and Top Rank wanted the fight, it was the best fight that could have been made atm. Too much money on the line($13Mill for Ricky and even more for Pacquiao).

          Off Topic:

If you think about it, it was because of Hatton that Pacquiao got the De La Hoya fight. De La Hoya first chose Hatton at @ 147 and Hatton said he wasn't ready for De La Hoya. Then De La Hoya turned down Margarito to fight Pacquiao.

I think Hatton was better off fighting weight-drained De La Hoya instead of Pacquiao.
