  • Anyone here desperate to see upsets in boxing?

    Or is it just me?

I mean it's the only way to enjoy boxing nowadays.
Most times the underdog doesn't have to win as long as
he could wobble or stun the heavily-hyped opponent.
Like what you saw in the Haney/Linares fight.

Even better is he could make A side struggle like hell.

It would make cherrypickers realize it's silly fighting these types of fights
when they're just as dangerous. Even more silly when they find themselves
struggling like hell when they could have fought someone more established,
"Man, why can't I just fight more established fighters that would provide me
more credit, win or lose? These are lose-lose fights." "These are pointless."

A good thing would just be fighters of a similar level fighting regularly instead of boxing's current model of constantly selling us mismatches and then promising the big fights but never delivering them.

It’s been bad, all these promoters, managers and networks have killed the sport due to their own agendas. I swear if they all worked together and make a commission they will make a killing but too many greedy hands out there.

like you said you tune in to these fights to witness one of the cherry pick favorites lose or get wobbled hahaha. How sad

Yea,let's hope it starts with Barrios and whoever that guy is that's fighting Jermall. Their string of grossly overmatched opponents has been pathetic. If they're going to continue to try a sell tank as a ppv star then give us fights that warrant those ridiculous ppv prices....loma,garcia,teo,haney or gtfo

Don't even know where these fighters find inspiration or motivation for these random fights they take. They do the same training, probably even harder for fear of being "exposed."

Not if they're flukes. I don't want to see another Douglas Tyson.

One of the main issues we have in boxing now is promoters making mismatches and the best not fighting the best. We got it with Loma-Lopez back in October, but even then you have major issues with the way these guys act as humans. Look how Lopez and his dad act... You'd never want your family to be around them. The olden days, the guys fought everybody and anybody anywhere at anytime. Not at all these days anymore.

Nowadays I just fast forward (if watching DAZN or ESPN the next day) the mismatches. Last week ESPN had like 3 fights on the card where guys face opponents half their size. Weight class aside, height/reach is a big advantage, and everybody knows it. It's not fun to watch. The top guys fighting unranked opponents isn't all that exciting either, but I'll watch it at least. We need more soldiers in this sport, like back in the day. Whitaker, Gatti, Mosely, Cotto, Toney, Lewis, Holyfield, etc.
