DirecTV dropped Comcast's Versus network as the two remained at an impasse on a new carriage agreement. The move drops Versus' distribution by about 14 million households to about 61.5 million homes.
DirecTV said in a statement that Comcast was “simply piggish” in seeking a rate hike it described as totaling more than 20 percent “for what is basically a paid programming and infomercial channel with occasional sporting events.” Comcast said it has asked DirecTV “to carry Versus at a comparable level of distribution as it does today at the same market price that other operators are paying.”
