They should be 3 minute rounds. Would definitely improve womens boxing IMO.

Ok bottom line.....if it ain't Claressa Shields or Amanda Nunes in MMA or Senesia Estrada or Amanda Serrano in boxing then I have no interest and I'm most likely not going to even give it a thought about watching it....just being honest.

As long as it's women fighting women, three minute rounds for all fights as well as 12 rounds for championship fights ought to be sanctioned.

It won't happen over night but smaller gloves is by far the best option just look at how much faster Shields hands looked in 4oz Gloves . 3 rounds won't change much at all , if anything it'll make things worse , I don't see how that would lead to more entertaining fights or Knockouts
A problem with going from two minutes to three minutes is that as things are currently, I see exhausted women fighters at the end of two minutes. Adding another minute on is not going to improve the spectacle. Smaller gloves would help mitigate some of this and maybe result in more TKOs. As I understand it, women use 8oz and 10oz gloves, exactly the same as the men, which makes no sense. On average, these women will not be as strong as a man of the same weight. Maybe 6oz and 8oz gloves would be worth trying out.
I think the equal length of rounds for equal pay argument is a red herring. Women could fight three-minute rounds and they are still only going to be paid a fraction of what male boxers earned. Pay is correlated to revenue generated which is correlated to viewers/customer demand. They want more pay, they just need to get more people watching. I'm not convinced that people who don't watch women's boxing currently will tune in to watch something that is potentially 33% longer and probably even lower quality as the women try to conserve energy to make it through the longer rounds.
Also, with the concerns over CTE, I'm also not sure how easy it is to push changes that increase the risks of CTE. The tide is flowing the other way.Last edited by Monty Fisto; 06-18-2021, 12:49 PM.Ricardi likes this.

Force the feminist types to work harder. They run their mouth about pay but rarely about equal work. 12 round championship fights at 3 minutes a round is a good start. Then after they work just as hard they can find out that boxing pays on drawing power so they still won't be making superstar man $.BodyBagz likes this.

So when you come in hot and heavy acting like “how dare you suggest no one watches it, you’re just trying to act cool”
I would stop and just look at those numbers.
The fact is, next to no one cares for women’s boxing.
So good on you for supporting it, and best of luck if that’s what you’re into.
but you came in waaaaay to gun ho to protect a sport that’s just not popular for obvious reasons
For me, boxing is a man's sport. You can have your opinion, but I have a totally different view of what a woman ought to be, and it doesn't include bloody battles with other women.
