The Best Club Fight I've Ever Seen

I was at this show in North Bergen, NJ a week ago and the whole audience was on it's feet for the duration of this one. A little background info, the favorite, Chris Murphy, is a local favorite, a big ticket seller. Long on charisma and marketability, maybe a little shorter on ability. The underdog, Abe Torres, is a gymmate of mine from back in the day, a real tough mofo.

That was a nasty hayemaker contest. Jersey City once again helping to produce some good fights.

Not much art, just straight brawling. Torres lives in Jersey City but he represents Union City Boxing Club which is why he had so much support, even for an opponent. Most of the people there are from adjacent Union City.

I actually work in Jersey City. I'm there everyday. Not much going on there IMO.. However I still get excited when I hear something connected to boxing regarding JC. To be honest I was shocked by the scorecards. Not that they were necessarily off but, I assumed there would be a little more homecooking for either Murphy or Torres.
