I did not see the fight but your post made me check it out on Boxrec. They have Camacho ahead on all three judges score cards and the fight stopped because of a head butt. Why do you say he quit?

Remember, if a fight is stopped short due to a clash of heads it's forced to the cards. It's a tactic generally done when a fighter expects that the other guy is a late rounder and doesn't want them to rally.

No way to know for sure if that was his motivation though.
