Comments Thread For: Pedraza: I Want All The Big Names At 140 Pounds; This Performance Sent Message To Them

Jose Pedraza's performance Saturday night moved him into position to land a higher-profile fight within the 140-pound division. Bob Arum, Pedraza's promoter, considers him a potential opponent for Teofimo Lopez's fall fight, tentatively scheduled for October 2. If the heavily favored Lopez beats the IBF's mandatory challenger, George Kambosos Jr., on Saturday night in Miami, the undefeated, unified lightweight champion might move up to the junior welterweight division for his following fight.

I wouldn't mind seeing that fight against Teo but it's not PPV-worthy in my opinion (nor is Teo/Kambosos or Teo/Loma).

It was a good performance against an over hyped prospect, BUT, Pedraza always comes up short in “big fights” so maybe he’ll get some decent B-side action on the back end of his career, but I don’t give him much chance against Taylor, Ramirez, or Prograis, Zepeda already Beat him convincingly, and then there are a handful of others below him in the rankings that would be dangerous fights for him imho…

Pedraza is a solid championship calibre fighter who beats everyone except top rated championship calibre opponents. Two time world champion in two weight classes and a possible threat to the title at light welter, unless the man is in with some of these young world beater thunder cats I’ll pick him. I think he has suffered because he is as stopped by Davis and so many who dislike Davis have wanted to paint tank as having fought weak opposition. That’s unfortunate.

I like Pedraza, but he'll get hurt by the top guys.

I think Pedraza can beat Taylor actually.

I'd like to see Pedraza get a shot against Barboza, Ramirez or a rematch with Zepeda

remember pedraza was coming off a robbery win against edner chery when tank fought him. hes gone on to have a solid career but that was a classic cherry pick. basically just like hes doing with barrios right now who robbed akhmedov.

Jose Pedraza ring generalship, skill level, and power, that's correct I did say power.
You see I believe that Pedraza has been fighting below his best weight for years.
He looked emaciated at 140, during the weigh in, at 130, and 135 he looked even worse.
In spite of that weakened physical state he still won titles in both of those weight divisions.
At 140 he's at a better physical, and mental weight for him, his power has improved.
He made Rodriguez quit in his corner, with fractures to his orbital bone.
He also had Molina, and LesPierre, badly hurt and out on their feet, if he would've pushed
it he would've gotten the stoppage.
I'd like to see him in rematches against Lomachenko, Davis, and Zepeda.
I think he can beat all 3 if they ever meet up again, now they're mentioning Lopez if he wins
                    his fight against Kambosas.
I'd like to see that too, Pedraza's boxing, and fighting ability give him a good chance of winning
                    against anyone at 140 pounds.
