Will Cotto move up to 154?

I was just about to say the same thing. The examples he gave of fighters beating other fighters was right on the money.
TS has his mind made up, and seems not to want to budge on that. That's fine.
In my opinion, Cotto is to small for 154. He may infact win one or two fights there.
But he will get punished by the prime players. Williams would damage Cotto.Last edited by HandSpeed303; 09-02-2009, 02:17 PM.Comment

He is to small to box and effectively use the jab at 154. It would not be a good move to go there.Comment

If Cotto knows what's good for him...stay at Welter and wait for a fight with Floyd. It WILL EVENTUALLY COME TO FRUITION.....everyone in the 154 lbs. division is high risk low reward for Cotto....unless Cotto wants to fight for legacy....if he chosses the latter....I still don't see him "beating" any of the class A fighters...my opinion...I think he would get his ears boxed off by Cory Spinks....Paul Williams work rate would end in the same fashion as Margocheato (minus the plaster), Kirkland (if he got out anytime soon) would simply destroy Cotto, Verno Phillips is a tough veteran who has a solid chin and would outwork Cotto, Both Sergios (Mora and Martinez) would get to Cotto....Cotto should just stay put.....Mosley tried, and it took him until the final second of the fight to KO Mayorga....MAYORGA!!!!!!! I don't see Cotto even putting a dent on Mayorga. Just my humble opinion though...I was wondering about this. When he gets a little older, will he and should he move up? He never was particularly fast for a ww, so would it be better if he fought at 154? He does have the power and the chin to compete there and its not like there is such a HUGE difference between the two divisions. It would be something else if he moved right up to 160.
